[Slave Play releases 10,000 Pay What You Can tickets to NUS members]

For centuries, theatre was for everyone. Now, with prices surging to absurd levels, young people and students are being pushed out.

As an artist of colour, writer Jeremy O. Harris is passionate about accessibility.

That’s why he’s teamed up with ATG to release 10,000 Pay What You Can tickets for Slave Play. 75% of them are in the stalls.

Fresh from its sell out run on Broadway where it won a record-breaking number of Tony Awards, this is a timely play which puts BIPOC stories centre stage.

It features an all-star cast, including Game of Thrones’  Kit Harrington.

Every Wednesday at 10am a batch of tickets will be released with seats up for grabs that would usually cost up to £165.

O’ Harris said: ‘Art doesn’t discriminate. I can’t tell stories of people with my experiences if I bar those people from being a part of it. I wrote the play in drama school and I remember sitting in the gods at every show I saw in that time. I wanted to see the actor’s eyes. To learn. That’s what this is about.’

Kit Harrington is joined by Oliva Washington, Fisayo Akinade, Aaron Heffernan, James Cusati-Moyer, Chalia La Tour, Maite Jauregui, Irene and Sofia Lucio.

Jeremy O. Harris’ play is directed by Robert O’Hara. They are joined by costume designer Dede Ayite, set designer Clint Ramos and Lighting Designer Jiyoun Chang.

Slave Play runs at the Noel Coward Theatre from April 17 to July 19.
